Otto's Birth Story- A beautiful connection

I had just crawled into bed when I received a text from Anna saying she was  at the hospital due to some pain in her belly, possibly a separated muscle, and she would keep me updated on if she was in labor or not. Less than two hours later I got a call that while being monitored she went from 4 cm to 6 cm dilated, they were going to admit her and that I could come whenever I liked. I photographed Anna's first birth and knew she delivered quickly. Luckily I live less than 2 miles from the hospital and I already had everything ready to go, I got dressed, ate an apple and headed to Saint Francis Medical Center in Shakopee (MN) excited and ready!

Anna's beauty never ceases to amaze me, while photographing her birth I couldn't help but think how beautiful her and her husband Nick's marriage is. The communication and unending support is inspiring and wonderful to be around. I could feel it in the room and I think you can feel it in the photographs as well. In fact, Anna had wonderful support all around! Her mom was their with her too and was an amazing support person, she always seemed to know when to step back and when Anna needed that extra support and she would step in and give that extra loving hand.

Bryn turns One! 102/365

My niece Bryn turned One and I got to do her one year session! It was so much fun! She seriously is such a character. She is the best snugger. One look at her and she will melt your heart forever. However, there is a little diva side to her, as shown in this photograph. :)

I have fallen really behind on posting these photos! I have been taking them every day! But I haven't been posting them!  This week I will get caught up! :)

I got the honor of photographing this beautiful mama to be and her husband! Pregnancy looks so good on her! I felt like I was photographing a model. :)

Adeline 9 months session

I wanted to share with you some photos of my daughter I took for her 9 month photo session! Of course Porkchop wanted in on the action! It was quite the challenge to get his face and not his butt in the photos! And Adeline really wasn't in the mood for a photo session. Her 9 month of life was filled with just wanted snuggles from her mom. I think it may have been her teeth because it was rare I would get 5 minutes without her wanting to be held by me. I soaked it up, I know not too far down the road she will want nothing to do with being held by me! :)

Dorau family session

I would like to introduce to you the Dorau family!

The little guy was probably the easiest baby to get to smile I have ever had. I would say "hi" and he would light up and giggle! It was the cutest thing ever. This family is such a happy, beautiful family, I am blessed to be able to know them! :)

Birth photography- I'm back!

I am back to taking birth photography clients!!!! yay!! I can't wait!

After having my daughter I took time off of birth photography (with the exception of my photographing my sisters birth) It is just too unpredictable with a newborn and being a first time mom. I never knew how long I will be gone, or when I would be gone. So we decided to hold off on accepting clients for birth photography.

I am so happy to say I am back to taking birth sessions. Oh how I have missed it! Labor and delivery is a huge passion of mine. I have always loved it. I just find the miracle of birth well, just that, a miracle. It is a truly indescribable experience.

If you are wondering, yes I did have a birth photographer and for me, it was absolutely PRICELESS. Reliving the whole experience of my labor and our daughter being born and those precious/foggy first moments after her birth- AMAZING.
